Volunteer
System
Popular
courses mean everyone wants to ride and not marshal or push-off
(eg. last night at Braunston). Courses like Lawford, Napton,
etc. have the opposite effect. With a few exceptions (new members,
juniors) the club has a system where everyone should volunteer
once for every 10 rides.
Remember,
a successful club relies on the support of its members and competing
cannot take place without mutual support.
|
Interclub
Results
A
win for Rugby RCC making it 10-4 in the series. It was a record
lowest aggregate for Rugby RCC and the fastest time was set by
Craig McKee.

2016 for all the details, including times of guest riders,
or go to Interclub
History to see previous times.

50-mile
Handicaps
For
any club members wishing to enter an open 50 here are your handicaps,
based on performances in club TTs. These will be used in calculating
the net time for the annual award 'best open 50 based on handicap'

Some
tips on marshalling
We
have a healthy volunteer system for marshalling, but everyone
should note a few essential guidelines:.
1. Arrive in good time - two minutes before the start is too late.
2. Wear a hi-viz jacket and stand where riders and other road
users can see you.
3. Use the flag only for pointing, and only wave it to warn cyclists.
We are not allowed to wave the flag at motorists.
4. Have a phone with you so you can phone for help if there's
an accident..

Riding
Club Time Trials
-
Unless
it's unavoidable please don't warm-up on the actual course
when other riders have started. If you do cross the finish
line as part of your warm-up please signal to the timekeeper
that you are not yet competing.
-
In the actual event it helps to call your number as
you finish as numbers can be obscured.
-
Sometimes
riders miss their start because of warming up, or other 'distractions'.
In an open event they would lose time for this. Unless you
have a 'mechanical' please be available when your number is
called. Gaps can lead to confusion for the timekeepers, especially
when a rider takes a later slot.
-
Since
we've had the booking system we get 'no-shows' which leave
gaps in the running order. Please cancel if you can't make
it to allow others to take the vacant slots. Please
don't book a very late number unless it's absolutely
essential as
it could result in a large gap ahead of you and some very
grumpy timekeepers waiting for you to start & finish.
Please
read the explanatory
page to find out how to use the system.
-
New
riders need to know that 'drafting' is not allowed. If you
are overtaken the onus is on you to drop back.
-
Please
be courteous to other road users, even if they're in the wrong!
Do not bring the club into disrepute, or invite undue police
attention.
-
If
you have a problem during an event the timekeepers need to
know. We don't leave until everyone is accounted for.
Please be aware that if you have an 'incident' in a club event
to let us know. We may need to provide a report in case there
are repercussions at a later date.
-
Safety is becoming ever important and all competitors wil
be required to sign to say they've read the guidelines.
-
We
have a club mobile phone which is switched on during
events. You may like to save the number: 07761 084 794

PayPal
& Membership
The
club now has a PayPal account, enabling members to pay for membership,
entry fees, etc. by this method - you don't need a PayPal account
. The System of paying through BC's on-line facility will be
phased out. Go to our PayPal
page to find out more. Our fees
remain as last year
|
Can
you be seen?
Evenings
can get very gloomy, especially under trees, and some riders have
had narrow escapes because they lacked a front light. Modern
lights don't add much weight and could save a big repair bill,
(or even your life).
We
have spare lights which riders can borrow if they forget.

Riders'
Numbers
Note comment
in recent report: "Riders
who only fasten their number at the top probably don't realise
that it flaps around and makes it unreadable for the timekeepers.
Definitely a case of mistaken identity waiting to happen."
