Rugby RCC's Booking
Our first attempt at a booking
system was introduced in 2011 in response to the high levels of entries we were
getting for our Wednsday evening time trials. Apart from simplifying the administration
the system meant that riders did not have to sign-on and wait for 1 - 2 hours
in order to get a ride. The
current booking system was introduced for the 2015 season and was designed by
club member Peter Belfiield. We had almost four years experience with the previous
system and Peter was able to incorporate several improvements. As far as we
know we are the only club to operate such a system for club events. Hopefully
anyone familiar with everyday internet software should find it easy to cope
with and here's a quick rundown of the main features:
- Click on 'Log in' on
the top right of the page.
- You should have the same
login ID (usename and password) as before. However, if you did not renew your
membership in 2014 you will not be able to access the system. New or returning
members will be given an ID by the system administrator. If you have a problem
with logging in send a message to email@example.com
- The first time you login
you will be prompted for details of an emergency contact.
- The functions you require
are shown at the top of the page - ie. click on bookings or marshalling.
- There is no separate
login to book a place or to view the startsheet.
- For the next forthcoming
event you will see the course, maximum number of riders, the date that entries
open and the closing date & time.
- There is a page where
you can enter your name for marshalling (this may include pushing-off, marshalling,
or timekeeping). The club is very aware that we have to step up the safety
aspects of our events and this will require people to volunteer to help with
events. A rider who has ridden more than 10 events in the current year without
volunteering will be blocked from the booking system. (NB. exempt from this
rule are new members and juvenile/junior members. 2nd Claim members are not
- Certain people have been
given admin rights to the system. Currently those are Laurie Bird, Peter Wright,
Craig McKee and of course Peter Belfiield.
Note: The rules which apply
to the booking system have been set in place by the club committee. In designing
the system Peter has merely applied those rules.
