Results of Inter-club event held 25th June 2010 for the Eddie Brodest Trophy

Another win for Rugby RCC, with a margin of 3 mins 44 sec, making it 5-4 in this contest. Conditions were near perfect and there were several PBs. This was the second fastest aggregate time in the nine years of the event and one of the most consistent with all Rugby RCC riders in the 22 minute bracket. There were mixed fortunes for Matt Plant who took almost a minute off his PB to finish with 22-51, yet found his time didn't put him in a scoring position! Tony Johnson can be relied on to go off course, carrying straight on to loop the Ryton island! In the spirit of the event, 81 year old Ken Rushall, a contemporary of Eddie Brodest in whose name the event is staged, competed on Eddie Brodest's old fixed-wheel bike. Unfortunately this was not his year and Ken punctured before half distance.
As a special gesture Richard Cheetham, a Velo member with his own shop, theBikeYard, in Leamington, provided prizes for the event. The prizes were for the fastest 5 riders (1st claim riders from the Rugby Velo and Rugby RCC) consisting a tee shirt and pair of socks for each rider plus vouchers to the value of £50, £40, £30, £20 and £20 for goods to be purchased at his shop. The winners were Russell Morris, David Newton, Craig McKee, Peter Wright and Lee Edmonds.
