A win for Rugby RCC made it 4-4 in this contest, although it seemed tighter on the night than the eventual 2 mins 20 sec margin. Once again, in the spirit of the event, 80 year old Ken Rushall, a contemporary of Eddie Brodest in whose name the event is staged, competed on what used to be Eddie Brodest's old fixed-wheel bike, recording an amazing 30-38 which was 11 seconds faster than he achieved last year. Consolation for Velo was that Richard Bray was the fastest rider on the night out of a field of 24 riders. After heavy rain earlier in the day conditions eased for the event, but the roads were still slippery and Planet X rider Hywel Davies was a faller on the notorious A45 slip road. He nevertheless continued, despite losing some skin, and achieved 23-12 on a standard road machine.
