Results for 2nd September 2009 - Course: K11/7.25 Grandborough Fields
Just when we thought we had encountered every possible hazard we were descended on by the local hunt, comprising 15 - 20 horses, riders and their hounds, overrunning the finish area. Fortunately this only affected the last 6 riders to finish, but for them to come across a hunt spread across the road, advancing towards them, ruined any chance of a good finish. Only 24 riders had elected to start, with several others deciding the continuous rain made the course too slippery. It transpired that there were no fallers and some impressive times were posted, with Hywel Davies winning in 17-11 with a deflating tyre. Peter Wright and Phil Scott pushed Tim Hastie down into 4th place, Tim having had a panic start after an overambitious warm-up. The handicap was won by juniors George Goodwin from Andy Ure, since their handicap was based on early season rides. Colin Stiles was one of those choosing not to ride, but he has already clinched the points championship for the season, while Sean Conway continues to improve and after his third place cannot be caught for the season's handicap.
