Results for 26th August 2009 - Course: K11/10 Long Lawford

In atrocious conditions 31 very damp riders braved the Long Lawford course, that's 20 less than last week and 10 less than when we rode this course two weeks ago. Every rider was convinced they had done their worst ever time as they dismounted, barely consoled to find that everyone else had done likewise. It's an established fact that adverse conditions seem to affect fast riders less than everyone else, so Hywel Davies's winning time was probably within a minute off his fine-weather time. However, one rider who was particularly pleased was Tim Hastie who managed second place ahead of Peter Wright and Colin Stiles. The bespectacled Colin always suffers in the rain and really needs some windscreen wipers for these conditions. The handicap was won by Sean Conway who now seems favourite to clinch this competition for the season. Kenny Robinson was last man off, having made a swift transfer from his car to bike, but just how far had he driven his car wearing his skinsuit?. At least all 31 riders finished and there were no scary moments reported, so this is an event which will be quickly erased from the memory.
