Results for 12th August 2009 - Course: K11/10 Long Lawford

We last rode the Long Lawford course 10 weeks ago when Tim Hastie managed to finish one second ahead of Colin Stiles, but this time Colin came out the winner, with Tim being edged out of 2nd place by Peter Wright, having his best ever season. The weather always turns nasty for us on this course and while the start/finish was dry the middle to late starters ran into torrential rain on the Fosse and A45. As if the weather wasn't enough of a problem Craig Middleton found a lorry driver with an anti-cyclist mission, using his trailer to push Craig off the road on the A45 (Craig was slightly annoyed at the finish), while Joe Dominy was forced to follow a tractor for 3 miles, right up to the finish line. Surprisingly, 41 riders started and 41 finished and everyone was pleased that this time Paul Peasegood managed to stay on course. Lawford is accepted as a minute slower than other courses and this was confirmed with only the improving Lucy Cash beating the theoretical 20-minute handicap target.
