Results for 15th July 2009 - Course: K11/10B Braunston

Hywel Davies and Colin Stiles both recorded 22-19 to dead-heat for first place, although Hywel was riding 3 days after competing in an ironman event so not surprising that he freewheeled over the finishing line. Once again the large field of 41 enabled a machine share, this time Rob Robson hopping on Sean Conway's bike after a quick change of pedals. A strong westerly wind eased during the evening and the threat of showers disappeared, leaving conditions better than had been expected. In theory this course should be ultra fast, with its start set at altitude, but a substantial section of the A45 lacks shelter from side winds and this takes the edge off times. Nevertheless 14 riders posted PBs, these were Russell Morris, Mike Smallwood, Craig McKee, Phil Gatley, Matt Plant, Eliot Blundell, Paul Laurie, Ray Dyke, Victoria Green, Alan Clowes, Dave Pettifor, Stuart Sykes, Sally Baker and Simon Hull. Once again Mike Smallwood was the outstanding vet, with a a time over 6 minutes better than his age related standard.
