Results for 17th June 2009 - Course: K10/25B Princethorpe - A45

Most riders have declared a preference for this new 25 course, compared to the old 2-lap circuit and the fast times certainly confirmed that, despite blustery conditions and the occasional shower. It proved to be a win for Hywel Davies, with James Heaton retiring before half distance feeling unwell. More than half the entry achieved PBs, with Peter Wright being the most pleased, achieving an under the hour time after six years of time trialling. Tim Hastie moved ever closer to the hour mark, as did Russell Morris in only his second season. The new go-faster version of Kenny Robinson made further progress and headed the handicap list and appears at this stage to be favourite to win this competition for the season. With many new members and little form available when setting handicaps the results tended to favour the newer riders. In all there were 5 DNFs, with reasons ranging from a puncture, ill-health, fatigue, a fall and handlebar breakage. It was good to see Roland Elsdon ridng as a guest, on holiday from Australia. Many will recall that Roland was the dominant rider in Rugby RCC 10 years ago and still holds the club 24-hour reord.
