Results for 3rd September 2008 - Course: K11/5 Willoughby
It was our final evening time trial of the season and the cold windy weather was typical of recent weeks, but 39 riders turned out nevertheless. Despite the conditions James Heaton managed to take 2 seconds off Hywel Davies's course record, while Marina Bloom lowered Rachel Lloyd's women's record by 13 seconds. It was also the conclusion of the points competition, with James Heaton winning on scratch and Mike Bloom taking the handicap. It's not often that both competitions go down to the final event, but if James and Mike had not ridden they would have been pipped at the post. With an amazing run of improved rides both Kenny Robinson and Stuart Sykes were in with a chance of the handicap as Amrit Singh's challenge fell away. It was a good turnout of private entries, although three of them missed turns, with Grenville Bateman taking the long way round, while Ray Dyke and Alex Priestley actually crossed the line in the wrong direction! An excellent season all round, with entries up 25% on last season - so now riders can look forward to a different challenge - the 4-hour on September 14th.
