Results for 30th July 2008 - Course: K3/13.6 Napton - Hilly

It's always a warm pleasant evening when we make our annual visit to Napton and this was no exception - although hardly ideal conditions for a hilly time trial. Nevertheless 35 riders came to the start and all except one made the finish - Chris Lodge being the unlucky man who went off course irretrievably and clocked 19 miles in the process. James Heaton continued his runaway success this season and his winning time was only 3 seconds outside Hywel Davies's club record and 20 seconds off Scott Roses's course record. The course has several tough climbs, apart from the 14% road out of Priors Marston, so a rider's power-to-weight ratio tends to upset the form book, as demonstrated by Richard Kenworthy and Russell Green, thereby heading the handicap table. Some riders so much enjoyed the course that they felt we should have two events there per season - possibly not the view of the majority?.
