Results for 11th June 2014 - Course: K10/25B Princethorpe/A45

This will go down as an incident-packed event for contrasting reasons. Matt Clinton blasted all records with his time of 48-27, averaging almost 31 mph! In the handicap section Trevor Wright came out on top by taking more than 8 minutes off his PB. However, Dave Kimberley ended up in hospital as a result of colliding with a car which appears to have been reversing out of a gateway on the straight mile. Pete Timmins also retired as a result of a fall after avoiding a cyclist who was not part of our event. Most people agreed that conditions were as perfect as cyclists are going to admit and this version of the course must be the fastest 25 course in the area. Two rather more serious points should be noted:

1. The volunteer system almost didn't work. With less than 20 minutes to the start we almost didn't have an event, with no volunteers present. Fortuntaely Keith Hirons, Jonathan Jordan and Richard Kenworthy stepped in, but we were still short-handed as Dave Aires and Alan Saitch were on holiday.
2. The police and ambulance people attending Dave Kimberley's accident complained that cyclists were not giving way to them and some 'gestures' were witnessed. We don't know who was responsible, but it doesn't help our cause to upset these people.
