Results for 21st October 2012 - Course: KH35 Newnham Hill Climb

Perfect conditions for a hill climb, just not enough riders! In contrast to last year when 26 riders took part, it was a disappointing turn-out for this final club event of the season, with the entry cut to just 10 riders when Jonathan Jordan dropped out with a mechanical problem minutes before the start. The event produced some excellent times, with 15-year old Ryan Kenworthy proving that power-to-weight ratio is everything, winning in 2-17.9 to establish a new club record, taking exactly 4 seconds off Hywel Davies's 10 year old time. With two previous winners in 3rd and 4th places, Ryan's time was even better than George Goodwin's 2011 time of 2-26.4, also 15 at the time. For the record the hill is 900m long (0.558 miles), elevation 59.7m (195.9 ft), average gradient 6.6% (1 in 15), max gradient 15% (1 in 6.7).
