Perfect conditions, with sunshine and almost no wind, could not be a better way to start the season. Although there were some notable absentees, first indications are that there's plenty of healthy competition, with the first eight riders going under 12 minutes for this 5-mile dash. Tim Hastie took the win on his new bike - perhaps it proves that spending a lot of money makes you try that much harder! Matt Jones, who joined late last season, continued his promise and led the handicap. New members who have yet to establish a time are not classified in the handicap, but having established some form they will appear next time..
