Results for 21st July 2010 - Course: K10/25B - Princethorpe - A45

Again this version of the 25 mile course confirmed its reputation of being extremely fast, with many riders posting PBs. Conditions favoured early numbers with a strong SW wind behind riders as they left the start, reducing to a slight breeze after the first 10 had departed. Main beneficiary was Adrian Tayles, third man off, who clocked 57-51, his first sub-hour since the age of seventeen! The winner was Russell Morris, off at no.25, and 26 seconds quicker than Adrian, while Peter Wright had a navigational malfunction at the Memorial Island, his extra 300 metres pushing him down into 3rd place. Fastest time of the evening was recorded by Hywel Davies, riding only occasionally this season as a private trialist, posting a 55-11. The course involves two loops of the A45 Ryton and Thurlaston islands, but covering only one loop reduces the distance by 9.95 miles, consequently private entrants Tracy Price and Jane Needham received times for 15.05 miles. New member John Brothers punctured a mile from the finish, but was surprisingly cheerful nevertheless.
