Results for 30th June 2010 - Course: K11/10T - Thurlaston

It was a bumper evening with 56 bikes (57 riders), a twice-set new course record, several PBs and excellent weather. The previous course record of 21-04 was set by James Heaton in May last year, and this was lowered to 20-30 by guest rider Nino Piccoli. The new record stood for less than 6 minutes as James Heaton went even faster to record 20-23, setting a new target for our open on this course on July 31st. Hywel Davies's time of 21-00 also broke the previous course record, but because he finished later than James Heaton his time went almost unnoticed! At the other end of the results was Stuart Sykes limping to the finish after an attack of cramp, painfully aware that two weeks of building sandcastles is no preparation for riding a time trial. Both Tracey Price and Jane Needham, riding their first time trials, were pleasantly surprised by their times, with Tracey convinced we had made an error with her time! Sue Elsdon took a break from her holiday to accompany Mike Bloom on the tandem, with Mike informing us that their combined age was 118. Unfortunately Vet on Std tables don't go that far!.
