Results for 28th April 2010 - Course: K11/10 Lawford

This event was memorable not for the cycling but for a 3 car collision which took place on the Long Lawford cross roads, just yards from where riders were signing on. Although there were no apparent injuries the same could not be said for the cars which looked like write-offs. Unlucky rider Chris Lodge was just arriving when car A smashed into car B and bounced into Chris's car which became car C. Fortunately Chris had already stopped, waiting to make his turn, else the impact would have been much greater. Despite traffic queues, scattered debris, police cars and a fire engine, our event was able to continue in comparative calm, downstream of the chaos. And the event? Another clear win for James Heaton ahead of Russell Morris and Tim Hastie. As always Lawford was 1 - 2 minutes slower than the average course, with riders complaining of a headwind along the hilly Fosse Way section. Fortunately there were no DNFs or off course excursions and only Tony Johnson reported a mechanical problem when his chain came off.
