Results for 31st March 2010 - Course: K11/5B Willoughby

Arctic conditions greeted 34 brave riders for the first event on our new 5-mile course - a straight out-and-back on the A45, replacing our traditional course around the country lanes. The season's first event always reveals the riders who have trained hard through the Winter, with Russell Morris in top form claiming his first win in the club time trial series and only four riders going under 13 minutes. Under normal conditions the new course might have produced a club 5-mile record, but a strong headwind on the outward leg kept speeds down and inevitably the time is never recovered in the tailwind return leg. This was the first event where 40 points are awarded for a win, so at least everyone scored more than a point.
